TRACK-ME

RACE DAY: Sunday, September 9th, 2012.  Madison, WI
2.4 mile SWIM – 112 mile BIKE – 26.2 mile RUN
There are over 2,700 athletes registered and probably 2,300+ will be starting.

I will be wearing a GPS device that will allow you to track me on the Bike and Run (not swim). Starting around 9:15am EST (8:15am local time) it should be on.

For live tracking (GPS):
  1. Go to:  http://MyAthleteLive.com/events
  2. Click on IM Wisconsin
  3. Click on the athlete's name (Andres Tovar & Mark Zimmerman) or multiple athletes at once - Wilmet will not be using the GPS tracking device
NOTE: This is real time data and it should tell you current speed, distance to go, current location, etc.

For checkpoint tracking (Every time we cross a check point on the course, Ironman.com will upload the data to their website):
  1. Go to:  http://www.ironman.com
  2. On the very top of the website. Click on Ironman Wisconsin “track an athlete” link. Beware that there will be other races going on (i.e. Vegas, etc) so be sure you click on the Ironman Wisconsin link.
NOTE: If you don’t see it, there should a red box/link on the top-right of the website that says “Live Race Day Tracking”, this should bring down the tracking options for the races that are going on that day.

  1. Type in the athlete’s Last Name or BIB #  (Zimmerman # 2615,  Tovar # 1422, Lanier # 2083)
  2. You’ll see the race progress and stats by check points.

For live video feed (mainly for the Finish line starting at around 4:30pm EST with the professional athletes):
  1. Go to:  http://www.ironman.com
  2. On the very top of the website. Click on Ironman Wisconsin. There should be a live video link somewhere. Look for it.

  1. The Finish line will have a webcam and you’ll be able to see everyone crossing. If you cross reference the GPS data / Check point data, you may estimate at what time we’ll be crossing or when we’ll be close to crossing… but to give you a ballpark, we should be finishing between 7pm – 10:30pm EST on Sunday, September 9th, 2012.
  2. The Finish line webcam also has sound, and most of the athletes crossing the line are acknowledged by the announcer with full name and hometown/state.
  3. The last athlete is expected at 1am (midnight local time). Although possible, hopefully it’s not one of us.
HAPPY TRACKING !!!
